DDD Success Story: Courtroom telephone records
With 2 boxes of phone bills in front of them,
containing over 100,000 phone calls on 5,000 pages, the lawyers did not know how
they were going to figure out which calls might be important for defending
their client. The last time they faced a similar challenge they had hired temps
with rulers to review calls one by one; the money and time spent on this
process was monstrous. There were too many pages to even attempt.
Digital Divide Data designed a custom solution
for this challenge. The phone bills were scanned at a facility near the law
office and the images were securely transferred to Cambodia where each phone
call was entered into a database. The entry was done using a double-entry
system to ensure high quality. DDD programmers then designed a custom interface
so that multiple lawyers could search the data. The data could be searched by
date as well the person who made the call or to whom the call was made. As
well, the original scanned images could be retrieved to confirm the call and
used as evidence.
This DDD solution saved months of time and
significant money for the client. Working closely together, DDD and the client
were able to implement a solution which allowed the lawyers to focus on
building the best case for their client.
