DDD Success Story: Mobitel
Mobitel is Cambodia’s largest cell phone and
Internet provider. Mobitel was one of the first companies to enter Cambodia and
has been paradigm of sound foreign and local partnership in developing
Cambodia. Digital Divide Data (DDD) has provided data migration services for
Mobitel since 2001, when the company first agreed to outsource parts of their
back office.
As Cambodia’s premier ICT enterprise Mobitel
bases their business decisions on cost benefit analysis. As their business
continued to grow exponentially Mobitel found themselves swamped by a deluge of
paper work from its thousands of sales offices. Struggling to cope with the
administrative burden and facing a 2 month processing delay for new customer
forms, Mobitel turned to Digital Divide Data.
DDD Partnership
“DDD has reduced out costs and gives us 10-hour
turnaround on all our new customer forms,” says Dana Sreng, marketing
director of Mobitel. DDD allows Mobitel to focus on revenue generating
activities as opposed to administrative duties. As an added bonus, by
outsourcing to DDD, Mobitel is helping disadvantaged individuals in Cambodia,
states Dana.
Everyday Mobitel sends DDD an average of 700 new
customer forms. In DDD’s facilities these forms are entered into an Access
database. At the end of the day, DDD sends the updated Access file to Mobitel.
This allows Mobitel to evaluate sales effectiveness with new information on a
daily basis. Additionally, DDD worked with Mobitel to establish a pricing
methodology that made it cheaper for Mobitel to outsource their data entry as
opposed to doing it themselves. Because the volume of new customer forms
changes every day, Mobitel leverages DDD's capacity flexibility to process from
100-3000 forms a day.
