My name is Lun
Dane. I was born on 1980 in Phnom Penh. When I was about a few years
old, my father divorced my mom. I am the youngest child who could only see my
father's face a few times. When I grew up sometimes I was discriminated against
from people my age, especially my classmates who often asked me about my father
and my poverty.
I lived
with my elder brother, elder sister, and my mom, because my father left us and
was never concerned with us. I really know that my mom had a lot of difficulty
to support my family. But fortunately and surprisingly my mom pushed us to
study until finishing High School. She was a cleaner. I am very proud of my
mom.
I finished
High School in 1996. In the same year I made up my mind to stop studying. I
wanted look for a job to help my family. The first job in my life was a waiter
in the restaurant. Yes, of course, it was not a very easy job. I came late
every day. Waiters must be polite, reserved, and outgoing. It became a good
habit for me.
Everything
was ok for me, it was a good experience in my life. In that job I could make
some money and learn more about English and do my part to work against the
poverty of my family. A few years later in 1999, I completed a Teacher Training
Course. And wanted to find another job.
Immediately
I became a teacher, it was a part time job, and I stopped my job as a waiter.
Yes, I found that my new job was a very demanding job, so I went to study
English more at C. V. C. D. and I learned about Computer Typing Skill. Two
months later, I took an examination at Digital Divide Data. Oh yes! I was very
surprised and delighted when I heard that I was hired and permitted to work
here.
I do want
to work in Organization, because I find that all the organizations have a
unique policy to help the poor people, to help wanderers and flood victims.
They have no discrimination towards race and try to improve social conditions.
And I believe that some day I will be able to complete my mom's wish that she
wants me to study at University. Especially, I will use my ability and my
experience to teach Cambodian people in my country and reduce the country's
pervasive poverty.
