My name is Leng Sorphea. I was born on 1 May 1982. I'm
the first child among four brothers in my family. Now my family lives in Kean
Svay District, Kandal Province.
I moved to Phnom Penh to live with my aunt. I finished my high
school in 1999. My parents are farmers, they plant banana and papaya trees. I
helped my parents to sell them in the market when I had a free time on Saturday
and Sunday.
Therefore our living condition was sufficient. Unfortunately in
1996 we began having floods and my parents had problems with money. I had to
sell cakes and candy at the school to support my study until I finished my high
school.
A farmer's life is hard in Cambodia because of natural disasters. I
have a dream to study in the University, but I failed my exams to get the
scholarship in public Faculties. My parents told me that they did not have any
money for me to study at the private school.
I tried to study at the Organization and to find a job in Phnom
Penh. I was trained in computer skills by Cambodian Volunteers for Community
Development and Hospitality Courses by Cambodian Women's Development. I tried
to apply for a job but I could not work, because I did not have any experience
before. On 5 July 2001 my teacher at CVCD told me that Digital Divide Data
Organization was hiring.
