My name is Khiv Kimhoan. I was born on 26 December 1982
to a poor family in Ampilleur village, Ampil commune, Phrey Chhor district,
Kampon Cham Province in the East of Cambodia.
When I was
five years old my parents sold pineapples at the market. In 1988 we moved to
Phrey toteong village, Phrey Vien Commune, Phrey Chhor District, Kompong Cham
Province. In this year my parents sold some pork porridge and rice noodles to
support the family. I always helped wash the plates.
I went to
school when I was seven years old. In 1989-1994 I studied at Phrey Toteong
school and at that time I was at 5th grade and took an exam for Secondary
School.
When I
passed the exam I went to study everyday, then when I left school I went to
sell some sugar and sweets at Phrey Toteong market until I was in 8th grade. It
was so difficult for me to go to school and to sell something's at the market,
therefore I forced myself to stop studying in order to help with the financial
problems of my parents. Obviously they did not want me to stop studying, but
they did not have enough money to support me.
I moved to
Phnom Penh on 24 April 1997 to look for a job. I worked in a restaurant and
studied English part time. I live with two sisters and one brother and I'm the
oldest in the family. I was trained in computer skills by CVCD, Cambodia
Volunteers for Community Development Organization.
This is the
second job for me. I want to know more about computers and I want to be a
manager. Finally I want to say thanks to CVCD and Digital Divide Data
management team who support me in learning about computers.
