Bo RanineThere are a lot of problems in my family. We have good enough living but we have a lack of love. When I came to DDD in 2003, I saw love inside the people here, the environment here. Sometimes I think that no one cares about me, what do I live for. It touched me that the people here, they try very hard – even those who are disabled, they try to live and work for their life. Also, I think here, at DDD, men and women are the same because DDD gives an equal chance to men and women. This is not normal in Cambodia. And most of the companies in Cambodia do not support us to study. Here in Cambodia if we don’t have any bachelor degree or certificate, we can’t find any good jobs.

Before I thought that only I have difficulties in life but when I went to DDD, I met a lot of disadvantaged people so it make me realize I have a chance to help other people that have problems. I learn from them or I share my experience with them.

When DDD started the Women Project, I joined as part-time English teacher and then as basic computer trainer. It was the most important part about working at DDD for me. I learned from them and they learned from me. Also, it helped me a lot because I got experience working with trafficked women and domestic violence victims.

So when I applied for the next job it related to those women and it is good experience for the employer. I think that it was a good start for me to work with the Women Project at DDD so now I can get a job as an Administrator/Finance at Social Services of Cambodia (SSC). My salary when I left DDD I was paid $75 but now I got $225. DDD was a great start for me.
